“Towards a bright future”
Founded by the Anatolian Education and Culture Foundation (AKEV), Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) which has an important position in the field of higher education in Turkey is in its 17th year today and is located in an open area of 92,000 square meters and a closed area of 270,000 square meters, with 3,000 academic and administrative personnel, and with nearly 35,000 students studying in its 12 faculties, 2 academies and 3 vocational schools, and the graduate education institute and more than 50,000 alumni.
Since the day it was founded, Istanbul Aydın University has been continuing its efforts to enrich its human resources, develop campus facilities and technical infrastructure, contribute to the intellectual knowledge of students, expand their social circle, and integrate them with the world. Istanbul Aydın University, which has the largest city campus in Istanbul, has undertaken the mission of contributing to the world of Turkish thought and the scientific development of humanity with two thought platforms Aydın Thinking Platform and the Western Platform, 2 UNESCO chairs, and 35 Research Centers.

In line with its mission of “providing added value to the economy by transforming knowledge into a product with an innovative approach”, IAU offers its students in business life the “On-Site Application” course, which has been a crucial part of education since its establishment and credited in accordance with the Bologna process, and internship opportunities. A University That Keeps the Pace with the Times
IAU, rapidly adapting to the requirements of the age, transitioned to the distance education system in 2006 and opened the Online Education Center. In the center, 8 common courses, 5 master’s programs without thesis, 2 associate degree programs, and 50 undergraduate program courses have been taught by online methods for 14 years. In the distance education process, which was realized with the decision of YÖK due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this figure has reached 98 percent in terms of the education provided by the university.

Istanbul Aydın University, which is the “Turkey’s foundation university with the highest number of international students” according to ÖSYM data, with more than 6,500 international students the university provides education at different levels, has thus been at the top for 4 years in the field of “Educational Services Export” in the “Turkey’s Top 500 Service Exporters” awards of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM). In 2012, IAU received the European ‘ECTS Label and Diploma Supplement Label’ by being included in the European higher education field, thus gaining a significant advantage in student mobility. As a matter of fact, there are Erasmus+ agreements with 259 universities from 45 countries, 26 of which are from European countries. Health Education Base
Istanbul Aydın University is merely a health education base with its Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences, Vocational School of Health Services, Faculty of Medicine Hospital, and Faculty of Dentistry Hospital (Dentaydın), and Oral and Dental Health Centers. IAU Faculty of Medicine Hospital, which was established in 2017, is one of the most modern university hospitals in Istanbul with an area of 51,000 square meters, a capacity of 300 beds, 13 operating rooms, and 92 polyclinics. Dentaydın, which is within the IAU Faculty of Dentistry, is the first foundation university institution among dental hospitals to receive a “health tourism” authorization certificate. In our new Oral and Dental Health Center opened in Esenyurt last year, 200 patients can be served at the same time.

Istanbul Aydın University produces around 100 joint projects per year covering university-industry cooperation, and there are dozens of patents, utility models, and industrial designs belonging to academicians and students. IAU was among the top 10 universities in Turkey with more than 80 national and international patent applications in 2019. Some of these studies have won various awards in contests held in Turkey and abroad, and IAU students and graduates are frequently included in the lists of “the most successful young people in the world”, and they have taken part in many projects, including NASA’s project to send humans to Mars.

The university’s sports teams have won a total of 347 medals, 132 gold, 105 silver, and 110 bronze, in various branches, 6 European championships, 7 second places in Europe, and 4 third places in Europe: and a total of 170 trophies, 85 first place, 52 second place, and 49 third-fourth place. Lastly, IAU Men’s Tennis Team in 2014 and IAU Women’s Tennis Team in 2019 became the first Turkish tennis teams to reach the European championship by reaching the top in the European Universities Tennis Championship.
