The “October 2024 Foreign Trade Figures Press Announcement Program,” organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), was held in Antalya along with TIM Delegates Workshop with the participation of the Minister of Trade, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat. The workshop brought together TİM President Mustafa Gültepe, TİM Vice Presidents, Board Members, Union Presidents, and TİM delegates.

In his speech, TİM President Mustafa Gültepe highlighted that exports in October amounted to $23.6 billion, marking a 3.6% increase compared to the same period last year. “We achieved the highest October export figures to date. Aware of the importance of production and exports for the national economy, we continue to work diligently,” he stated. He also noted that total exports in the first 10 months of 2024 increased by 3.2% to reach $216.4 billion.

During the “Delegates Ask” panel held as part of the TİM Delegates Workshop, Minister of Trade Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, TİM President Mustafa Gültepe, Deputy Ministers, Board Members, Union Presidents, and TİM delegates engaged in discussions. Addressing the panel, President Gültepe emphasized, “We understand that combating inflation is the top priority for the economy. However, there is a misconception: inflation in Turkey is not caused by production but by consumption. This consumption-driven inflation is our biggest challenge at this point.”

Speaking at the workshop, HİB Vice President Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın remarked, “Today in Antalya, at the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Delegates Workshop, held with the esteemed presence of our Minister of Trade, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, we came together with industry representatives to underline the critical role of tradespeople, artisans, exporters, producers, and industrialists in achieving Turkey’s economic growth targets. We will continue our efforts to strengthen our country’s position in global markets and support our exporters. Together, we will strive to build a stronger economy.”

Following the program, participants joined the Republic March, celebrated with enthusiasm and unity in honor of the Republic’s 101st anniversary. The event concluded with a dinner gathering for the TİM team, reinforcing the shared belief in the values of the Republic, sustainable success, and a promising future for the country.

Istanbul Aydın University hosted Trabzon Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya, Beşikdüzü Mayor B. Cahit Erdem, Büyükçekmece Mayor Dr. Hasan Akgün, and Küçükçekmece Mayor Kemal Çebi.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın and MEDICALPARK Board Chairman Muharrem Usta visited Trabzon. During their visit, they met with Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım, where they had a productive discussion on projects and potential collaborations that could contribute to the region.

Later, they visited Trabzon Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, and discussed the city’s future and sustainable development goals. The importance of collaboration for the city’s growth was emphasized. Prof. Dr. Aydın expressed his gratitude for the hospitality shown during their visit.

The October Board of Directors meeting of the UFRAD Franchising Association was held at Istanbul Aydın University, hosted by UFRAD President Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın.

During the meeting, the general evaluation of the association’s activities was conducted, and discussions took place on new membership processes, sectoral developments, and the association’s strategic plans for the future. The members exchanged views on evaluating industry dynamics, providing more value to members, and taking strong steps in the franchising sector. Following this, existing projects were reviewed and plans for upcoming initiatives were discussed.

The EURAS General Assembly Meeting was held at Istanbul Aydın University (IAU). During the meeting, university rectors and representatives from different countries gathered to discuss global education strategies, inter-university collaborations, and future projects. Topics such as student exchange programs, joint research projects, and innovative education solutions were discussed, emphasizing the commitment to expanding academic networks and enhancing education quality. Following the meeting, a cooperation protocol was signed between Istanbul Aydın University and the Tajikistan International Tourism and Entrepreneurship University, a member of EURAS.

Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University Rector Prof. Dr. Cafer Caferov also participated in the EURAS General Assembly Meeting. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın stated, “We were very pleased to host them at our university on the occasion of the EURAS General Assembly Meeting. We had valuable discussions to strengthen our bilateral collaborations and develop joint projects in education. A gala dinner event was held prior to the General Assembly Meeting with the members of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS).

During the event, discussions were held regarding future projects and collaborations. The focus was on creating more student and academic exchange programs between universities, developing joint research projects, and advancing digital transformation in education. Furthermore, there was an exchange of ideas on contributing to society through social responsibility projects and encouraging innovation within universities.

The second day of the Union for the Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED) General Assembly Meeting was held, focusing on key topics such as “University Management in the Mediterranean Region,” “Career Guidance,” and “Initiatives Against Climate Change.” In-depth analyses were conducted on these subjects, with participants addressing regional and global education issues, emphasizing the development of sustainable collaborations in higher education, and proposing innovative solutions.

During the second day of the meeting, the duration of the existing collaboration agreement between Istanbul Aydın University (İAÜ), Setif 2 University in Algeria, and Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Jordan was extended. Additionally, a collaboration protocol was signed between İAÜ and Erbil Polytechnic University.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın expressed, “This important agreement is a significant step for both institutions in developing international academic projects and implementing student exchange programs. Our goal is to create new opportunities in education and enhance knowledge sharing. I wish the best for both institutions.”

A gala dinner was organized on the first day of the UNIMED General Assembly, held at Istanbul Aydın University. The event, which hosted 200 members from 25 countries attending the General Assembly in Istanbul, featured a spectacular Bosphorus tour. During the dinner, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Aydın University, thanked all the participants and those who contributed to the organization of the event.

The opening ceremony of the General Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED) was held at Istanbul Aydın University (IAÜ), with 200 members from 25 countries attending.

The event was graced by the presence of Deputy President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Prof. Dr. Haldun Göktaş, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Gökhan Yazgı, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, President of IAÜ and Board Member of UNIMED, UNIMED President Prof. Khereih Rassas, UNIMED Secretary General Hmaid Ben Aziza, Deputy Secretary General of Union for the Mediterranean Joan Borrell, and UNIMED Director Marcello Scalisi.

The ceremony began with opening speeches. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın emphasized in his speech, “In this platform, where we have come together to enhance scientific, cultural, and academic collaborations in the Mediterranean Region, we are taking important steps for the future of our region. As Istanbul Aydın University, we are proud to be a part of UNIMED for 17 years. I believe we will achieve even greater successes together.”

UNIMED President Prof. Khereih Rassas highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and stressed the importance of education as one of humanity’s strongest tools, particularly in these challenging times when access to education in Gaza has become increasingly difficult. He underscored the importance of solidarity among academics.

Prof. Dr. Haldun Göktaş, Deputy President of YÖK, spoke about Turkey’s significant international projects in higher education and the responsibility of universities in nurturing future leaders through knowledge sharing. He noted that universities should not only focus on scientific achievements but also work toward human rights, peace, and sustainable development. He stressed the importance of training students to be individuals capable of solving global challenges.

Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı, during the ceremony, highlighted the significance of Arslantepe Mound being included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. He then presented a plaque to Prof. Dr. Francesca Balossi Restelli, the head of the Arslantepe Mound Excavation, for her dedicated efforts in preserving and promoting historical heritage.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın concluded by expressing his heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event. He emphasized the importance of strengthening collaborations in the field of education to provide a better future for the youth, who are the guarantee of tomorrow. “Education is the most powerful tool for transforming societies. Therefore, under the UNIMED umbrella, enhancing our international cooperation, sharing experiences, and developing new projects are of great importance. Together, we will continue our struggle for a brighter future,” he said.

The UNIMED Board of Directors Meeting was held at Boğaziçi University, with the participation of Boğaziçi University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Naci İnci, UNIMED President Prof. Khereih Rassas, and IAU President Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, along with other UNIMED Board members.

During the meeting, key issues regarding advancing cooperation in higher education were discussed. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın emphasized, “The decisions made represent a significant step towards shaping our strategies for the upcoming period and strengthening inter-university solidarity.”
