The Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2026) was successfully completed after a three-day intensive program held in Istanbul between April 7–9.

The summit brought together higher education institutions, academics, and sector representatives from around the world.

Throughout the summit, numerous sessions comprehensively addressed the future of higher education, internationalization strategies, and academic cooperation.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın emphasized that EURIE is not only a summit but also a strategic platform that strengthens global academic dialogue, underlining the importance of such organizations in supporting Türkiye’s goal of becoming an international hub in higher education.

EURIE 2026 concluded with significant outcomes in terms of global cooperation and the development of a shared vision in higher education.

EURIE 2026 continued on its second day with an intensive program addressing key issues shaping the future of higher education.

Within the scope of the program, numerous parallel sessions were held focusing on academic mobility, international student recruitment, digitalization, and new approaches in higher education.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, President of EURAS, met with higher education representatives from Pakistan and Bulgaria. The meetings addressed academic collaborations, student and academic mobility, as well as joint and dual degree programs.

The engagements carried out throughout the second day contributed significantly to the development of new international partnership opportunities in higher education.

The Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2026), organized for the 11th time this year by the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), commenced with strong participation at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Delivering the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, President of EURAS and President of Istanbul Aydın University, emphasized the competencies that will stand out in the future of the business world.

The opening session brought together prominent stakeholders of higher education, including the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, along with university representatives and academics from different parts of the world.

On the first day of the summit, key topics such as internationalization in higher education, academic collaborations, and strengthening global education networks were addressed through numerous sessions and meetings.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın also held international meetings throughout the day and shared evaluations on developing a common vision in higher education, highlighting EURIE as a strong academic platform bringing together different geographies.

As part of the EURAS Academy Program hosted by Al-Mustaqbal University, the President of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, came together with academics from Iraq’s leading universities. The program was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq, Prof. Dr. Adnan İbrahim Abid Al-Jumaily.

This significant gathering, held on the historic lands of Babylon,the cradle of civilization, addressed in a comprehensive manner the transformation of higher education with a focus on quality, sustainability and global interaction.

During the Baghdad segment of the program, it was emphasized that transformation in higher education is only possible through intention, values, and a shared vision. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın underlined that a strong university structure is essential for building a strong future, noting that every step taken carries regional impact.

The Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) held a productive meeting with Ms. Oana Maria Rebedea, Director for the Caucasus and Central Asia at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

During the meeting, concrete areas of cooperation that could be implemented in the coming period were discussed within the scope of joint projects, implementing partnership models, and international collaboration opportunities.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın stated that the academic network carried out by EURAS at both regional and global levels would make significant contributions to collaborations to be developed with UNDP.

The 3rd International Rehabilitation and Health Sciences Conference was held at Istanbul Aydın University, organized in collaboration with the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) and Pakistan Superior University. The opening ceremony was attended by the Consul General of Pakistan in Istanbul, Khawaja Khurram Naeem, alongside faculty members and students from both Superior University and Istanbul Aydın University.

Organized on the foundation of scientific collaboration, friendship and shared values, the conference contributed to strengthening academic and cultural ties between Türkiye and Pakistan—two brother countries.
Steps to deepen cooperation in education, science and culture were discussed, highlighting that ongoing collaborations will empower students internationally and open new pathways for joint projects.

The Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) convened its November Board Meeting, where ongoing scientific collaborations, joint projects and academic solidarity initiatives with universities across the Eurasian region were comprehensively reviewed. Efforts to strengthen inter-university interaction were discussed, and the roadmap for the upcoming period was outlined. Emphasis was placed on the importance of academic activities that transcend borders and bring together different languages and cultures. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further academic cooperation and collective production for a stronger Eurasian academic community.

The Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) held its September Board of Directors meeting, chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın. During the meeting, the goals of strengthening regional and global higher education cooperation were evaluated, and projects to be implemented and events planned for the coming period were discussed. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın emphasized at the meeting that work would continue with determination in line with the vision of “Stronger tomorrows through unity and solidarity in education.”

The Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) Board of Directors held its August meeting, chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın. The meeting evaluated ongoing efforts to strengthen educational diplomacy and projects for the upcoming period.

In addition, the preparation process for the Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2026), to be held on April 7-9, 2026, was discussed in its all aspects. Prof. Dr. Aydın stated that steps to further advance global academic collaborations are being planned.

Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) successfully held its July Executive Board meeting under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın. During the meeting, the goals of further strengthening cooperation in the field of higher education at regional and global level were evaluated.

While the members of the Board of Directors exchanged ideas on the projects planned to be implemented in the coming period, the preparation process of the Eurasian Higher Education Summit – EURIE 2026, which will be held on April 7-9, 2026, was also discussed comprehensively.

The meeting also emphasized that the increasing collaboration under the roof of EURAS plays an important role in uniting universities in Eurasia around a common vision.
