Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Istanbul, Mehdi Errami, visited Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) and held a meeting with the President, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın. Following a comprehensive discussion on educational collaborations between the two countries, plans for new objectives were made, and existing partnerships were evaluated. Assoc. Prof.Mustafa Aydın expressed his gratitude for their kind visit to IAU.
A Turkish Exporters Assembly and Service Exporters’ Association joint export target meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM). The meeting saw significant participation.
During the meeting, assessments were made regarding the service export targets for the year 2028. Additionally, developments in the service sector, which reached a record-breaking $100 billion for the first time in 2023, and new period goals were discussed. In this context, emphasis was placed on the plans made in line with the established objectives.
The management of the Service Exporters’ Association (HIB) organized a meeting with Ahmet Misbah Demircan, the former Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism who was appointed as the Ambassador of Tunisia. The meeting took place within the framework of increasing Service Export in Tunisia. In this context, information was provided about the current situation of the sectors. After the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın, the Vice President of HİB’s Board of Directors, wished Ambassador Ahmet Misbah Demircan success in his new position.
February meeting of the Western Platform was held. The guest speaker for this month’s Western Platform meeting was Prof. Dr. Hasan Basri Yalçın, Deputy Chairman of the AK Party. Discussions were held on “International Security Strategies and Security Policies Implemented in a Unipolar World.” Politicians, academicians, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and administrators from Istanbul Aydın University participated in the meeting. After Prof. Dr. Hasan Basri Yalçın’s speech, participants directed their questions to him.
The President of EURAS & EURIE, Assoc. Mustafa Aydın, met with young entrepreneurs during the “Imagine Tomorrow 2024” International Entrepreneurship and Innovation Event. Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın shared knowledge and experiences with the young participants, completed project presentations, and awarded prizes to the successful entrepreneurs. In this context, the 1st prize was awarded to Some Carbon, the 2nd prize to Joysper, and the 3rd prize to the project named Sowec. The award for young entrepreneurs went to Ümraniye-Çamlıca-Kırşehir Pendik-Kağıthane BİL Schools.
During EURIE 2024, the President of EURAS and EURIE, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın, held meetings with representatives of universities from around the world. Initially meeting with the Romanian Delegation, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın engaged in discussions on academic and cultural collaborations, as well as student exchange programs with university rectors and administrators who came to Istanbul for the 9th Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE) from countries including Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Morocco, and many more.
Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın continued his discussions on academic and cultural collaborations with the delegation of university rectors and administrators from Iraq and Azerbaijan who attended EURIE 2024.
Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın had a meeting with the delegation from Yunus Emre Institute, where discussions focused on potential collaborations to support scientific and cultural initiatives and build bridges between world cultures.
A meeting of Arab-Turkish Universities was held within the framework of the 9th Eurasian International Higher Education Summit. Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (CoHE), met with the rectors of universities affiliated with the Association of Arab Universities and Turkish universities.
During the Arab-Turkish Universities meeting, there were discussions and exchanges of ideas to enhance collaboration between universities. Evaluations were made on new perspectives, and necessary planning was conducted for further cooperation.
The opening ceremony of the Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE) 2024, founded and chaired by Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın, the President of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), took place at Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center. The opening speech of the largest international education summit in Eurasia, featuring 62 panels and 156 speakers from 67 countries, was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, who is also the President of EURAS & EURIE.
Another speaker at the opening ceremony was Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye, who stated, “Universities play a key role in supporting economic development and addressing social challenges as incubators for innovation and entrepreneurship through accelerators, innovation centers, and entrepreneurship programs.”
Other speakers at the opening ceremony included Prof. Oliver Gunther, President of EDUC Europe; Dr. Fernando Leon García, President of IAUP; Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of AARU; Prof. Mamoun Mal-Debi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education in Jordan; Dr. J. Prospero E. De Vera, Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education in the Philippines; Mustafa Gültepe, President of TIM; Kemal Çeber, Governor of Gaziantep; and Mahmut Gürcan, Deputy Minister of Trade.
The 9th edition of the summit brought together over 2,000 rectors, academicians, and entrepreneurs from Turkey as well as collaborative organizations from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The summit aims to continue promoting Turkey’s higher education sector globally, making it an attractive center and increasing academic collaborations in the field.
Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) hosted the 4th Turkish-Arab Higher Education Congress. The opening speech was delivered by IAU President Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın.
The congress brought together many academicians and administrators from IAU, as well as Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan, a member of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (CoHE), and university representatives. The event continued with speeches by Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Universities, and Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan from CoHE. The congress addressed topics such as international exchange of knowledge and collaboration among universities, as well as student exchange programs.
The 41st session of the conference series titled “Conversations with Trade Counselors at HIB,” organized online by the Service Exporters’ Association (HIB) operating under the umbrella of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), was held on February 21, 2024, with the theme of Montenegro.
The online program, which began with the opening speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Vice Chairman of the HIB Board of Directors, continued with the presentation of Erdal Karaömeroğlu, the Trade Counselor in Podgoritsa. The meeting was also attended by HIB Secretary-General Dr. Fatih Özer and Deputy Secretary-General Abdullah Keskin.
Presentations covered country profiles, free trade agreements, economic outlook, general foreign trade data for Montenegro, agreements between Turkey and Montenegro, bilateral trade, potential sectors, Montenegro’s service trade, and detailed information on sectors. Following the presentations, questions from representatives of participating companies were answered.
The purpose of these events is to provide Turkish companies with information on global trade opportunities and to increase collaboration between countries through trade counselors. HIB’s such discussions constitute an important platform to gain a competitive advantage on global trade and enhance collaboration opportunities.
