UNIMED (Union of Mediterranean Universities) Board of Directors Meeting for the month of February was held. Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) President Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın, participated in the meeting where recent activities and planned new projects were mutually discussed. Additionally, there was an exchange of ideas to enhance regional collaborations.
The General Assembly was held on the third day of the meetings of Mediterranean Universities Union in Spain. In the General Assembly that board members were selected and fruitful speeches and presentations about world higher education were made, Istanbul Aydın University was selected for the board of management again.
The preparatory works for the higher education meeting that will be held on November 2023 in Morocco were evaluated and necessary plans were made.
In Granada University, Mediterranean Universities Union Conference was held with 150 attendants from 9 countries. After the opening speeches of Granada University Rector Pilar Aranda Ramirez, UNIMED President Francisco Matte Bonne and UNIMED General Secretary Hmaid Ben Aziza, many presentations in the simultaneous sessions were made.
UNIMED Board Member and İstanbul Aydın University President Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın also made a presentation themed “The Role of Universities in Earthquakes and Natural Disasters”. In his presentation, he mentioned that the consequences of the earthquake disaster that took place in our country and involved many provinces on 6th February 2023, the impact of the earthquake on education and the work of IAU in the earthquake area.
In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın emphasized “It is essential that universities are not limited to desk job work in the projects in the field of disaster preparedness, joining the society to increase the interest of citizens, evaluate how good practices in this field in the world will be realized at the national level, develop functional projects and provide academic support in line with the vision they will ideally determine on how to prepare for disasters.”
At the end of the presentation, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Aydın said “I present my gratitude UNIMED to bring us together today with the principle of strengthening academic alliances for peace and security and to Granada University which is the one of oldest and most established universities in the world for hosting this precious organization.”
On the first day of Spain UNIMED Meetings, Mediterranean Universities Union Board Meeting was held at Granada University. In the meeting, the previous meeting declarations were evaluated with the board members. In addition, the plans for the next period were discussed and necessary meetings on General Assembly preparations were made.
İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi (İAÜ) Mütevelli Heyet Başkanı Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Ürdün ziyareti sırasında İAÜ-Amman ofisinin açılış çalışmalarını da değerlendirdi. Ofisin açılmasıyla ilgili yapılacak hazırlıklar konusunda gerekli görüşmeler yapıldı ve ilgili altyapı çalışmaları başlatıldı.
Ürdün ziyareti kapsamında Akdeniz Üniversiteler Birliği (UNIMED), Avrasya Üniversiteler Birliği (EURAS) ve İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi (İAÜ) ile ilgili birçok görüşme yapan ve çalışma yürüten Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın; açılacak olan İAÜ-Amman Ofisinin, yürütülen uluslararası eğitim diplomasisine çok boyutlu bir katkı vereceğini belirtti.
NEGOTIATIONS WERE MADE FOR IAU AMMAN OFFICE OPENING PREPARATIONS
Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın evaluated the IAU Amman Office opening works during his Jordan visit. Necessary negotiations were made on the preparations for opening of the Office, and related infrastructure works were started.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın made many negotiations related to Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), and Istanbul Aydın University within his Jordan visit, and stated that the IAU-Amman Office to be opened will make a multidimensional contribution to the international education diplomacy.
Akdeniz Üniversiteler Birliğinin (UNIMED) temsilcileri, Ürdün’ün başkenti Amman’da gerçekleşen gala yemeğinde bir araya geldi. Akdeniz bölgesinden birçok üniversite temsilcisinin katıldığı yemeğe, İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi (İAÜ) Mütevelli Heyet Başkanı Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın da iştirak etti. Akdeniz Bölgesi’ndeki yükseköğretim potansiyeline ve eğitim sektöründeki hareketliliğe yönelik değerlendirmelerin yapıldığı buluşma toplantısı, gelecek döneme ilişkin proje tasarılarının paylaşılması ve birçok işbirliği fırsatı yaratması açısından da oldukça verimli geçti.
MEDITERRANEAN REGION UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES GATHERED AT THE UNIMED GALA DINNER
Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED) representatives gathered in the gala dinner in Amman, the capital of Jordan. Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın participated at the dinner attended by many university representatives from Mediterranean Region. Evaluations were made regarding the higher education potential in the Mediterranean Region and the mobility in the education sector, project drafts for the next period were shared in the meeting, and also it was very productive in terms of creating many cooperation opportunities.
Akdeniz Üniversiteler Birliği (UNIMED) Genel Kurul Toplantısı, Amman’da gerçekleştirildi. Birçok ülkeden temsilcinin yer aldığı Genel Kurul’a, İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi (İAÜ) Mütevelli Heyet Başkanı Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın da katıldı.
Mevcut faaliyetler ile gelecekteki girişimlerin değerlendirildiği toplantıda, 2021 yılına ilişkin faaliyet raporu gözden geçirildi ve üyelerin sorun, istek ve önerileri konuşuldu. Ayrıca karşılıklı istişareler kapsamında, günümüz teknolojisinde eğitimdeki yeni eğilimler ve kalitenin önemi üzerinde de duruldu.
MEDITERRANEAN UNIVERSITIES UNION GENERAL MEETING WAS HELD
Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), General Meeting was held in Amman. Representatives from many universities and Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın participated in the meeting.
Current activities and future initiatives were evaluated, 2021 annual report was reviewed, and the problems, requests and suggestions of the members were discussed at the meeting. Also, new trends in education and the importance of quality in today’s technology were also discussed within the scope of mutual consultations.

Bir önceki birleşimde alınan kararların değerlendirildiği toplantıda, yürürlükte olan ve planlanan faaliyetlere ilişkin görüşmeler yapıldı. Toplantıda bireysel değerlendirmelerini paylaşan İAÜ Mütevelli Heyet Başkanı Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, “360 derece eğitim perspektifiyle çalışmaya devam edeceğiz. Bu bağlamda yükseköğretimde bölgesel iş birliklerinin geliştirilmesi, eğitim ve ekonomi anlamında hem bölge hem de tüm dünya için oldukça önemli.” dedi.
MEDITERRANEAN UNIVERSITIES UNION BOARD MEETING WAS HELD
The Board Meeting was held before the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED) General Assembly. Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın has attended the meetings.
In the meeting where the resolutions made in the previous meeting were evaluated, discussions were held regarding the activities in force and planned. Sharing his personal evaluations at the meeting, IAU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın said, “We will continue to work with a 360-degree education perspective. In this context, the development of regional cooperation in higher education is of utmost importance for both the region and the entirety of the world in terms of education and economy.”
İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi (İAÜ) Mütevelli Heyet Başkanı Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın’ın Ürdün gezisindeki bir başka ziyaret noktası Amman Ticaret Başmüşaviri Murat Albayrak Bey’in makamı oldu. İkili arasında eğitim ve ekonomi konularında kapsamlı bir sohbet gerçekleştirildi.
İAÜ Mütevelli Heyet Başkanı Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, görüşme sonrasında “Eğitim ve ekonomi alanındaki bu verimli sohbetimizden ve misafirperverliğinizden dolayı içten teşekkürlerimi sunuyorum.” dedi ve geleceğe yönelik iyi dileklerde bulundu.

An additional location of the visit of Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) President Mustafa Aydın during his Jordan trip was the office of Amman Chief Counselor of Commerce Murat Albayrak. A comprehensive dialogue was held between the two on education and the economy.
IAU President Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Aydın has made remarks regarding the meeting as well as expressed his good wishes for the future. “I would like to express my sincere thanks for this productive conversation in the field of education and economy, and your hospitality.”
İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi (İAÜ) Mütevelli Heyet Başkanı Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın; Ürdün’ün başkenti ve gözde şehri Amman’a gerçekleştirdiği iş gezisinin ikinci gününde, Amman Türkiye Büyükelçisi Sn. İsmail Aramaz’ı ziyaret etti. Gerçekleştirilen ikili görüşmede; iki ülkenin sosyal, siyasi, ekonomik ilişkileri üzerinde duruldu ve eğitim ilişkileri ele alındı.
İAÜ Mütevelli Heyet Başkanı Doç. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, samimi ev sahiplikleri için Büyükelçi Aramaz’a şükranlarını sundu ve “Bu coğrafyada ülkemizi temsil eden sizin gibi deneyimli bir diplomatımızla görüşüp değerli iştişarelerde bulunmak ve Ürdün-Türkiye ilişkilerinin eğitimle ilgili boyutlarını değerlendirmek; bizlere geleceğe ilişkin proje tasarılarımızı netleştirmek noktasında önemli katkılar sağladı ve ufuk verdi. Istanbul Aydın University (IAU) President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın visited Amman Turkey Ambassador Mr. İsmail Aramaz on the second day of his business trip to Amman, the capital and precious city of Jordan. During the bilateral meeting, the social, political, and economic relations of the two countries were emphasized and educational relations were discussed.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, IAU Chairman of the Board of Trustees, expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Aramaz for his sincere welcome. “It is important for us to meet with an experienced diplomat like yourself, who represents our country in this geography, to have valuable consultations and to evaluate the educational dimensions of Jordan-Turkey relations, for clarifying our project designs for the future, and opening new horizons. We believe that the quality production of the activity groups that carry out focal studies like you will further develop and nurture the good relations between the two countries.”
